Two killed in boat crash in Martin County
Martin County, Fl- Two people have died following a boat crash in Martin County Sunday night.
The victims are 1-year-old Hudson Matakaetis and 28-year-old Paige Barrett.
Investigators said the victims were ejected from the boat when it crashed.
Barrett and the baby girl were taken to the ER, but didn’t survive their injuries, according to the sheriff’s office. Barrett died just after 9 p.m. and Matakaetis died an hour later.
The Sheriff’s office initially reported this:
“The Martin County Sheriff’s Office was called to a very serious boat accident involving a single vessel in the Intercoastal Waterway near Sewall’s Point/Sandsprit Park. The crash occurred just after 8pm.
Martin County Sheriff’s Marine Units, Air One, along with the SLC Sheriff’s Air Unit assisted to locate everyone on board. At this hour, all passengers have been accounted for. Two people were transported to the hospital with very serious injuries. FWC will be taking over the investigation and will be releasing additional information when it is available.”
