TWO HOME DEPOT EMPLOYEES ARRESTED FOR SCHEME TO DEFRAUD AND GRAND THEFT

Martin County, Fl-Two employees of Home Depot in Jensen Beach were arrested after detectives determined the pair were involved in a scheme to defraud the retail store out of thousands of dollars.

District Asset Protection Managers contacted the Martin County Sheriff’s Office earlier this week after they learned that the pair was ringing up contractors’ merchandise for less than the actual value. After investigating, they learned that it may have been happening for months.

51 year old Barbara Marra of Port St. Lucie, and 21 year old Jacquez Mathews of Fort Pierce were charged with Scheme to Defraud, and Grand Theft.

Home Depot’s District Asset Protection Manager estimated at least $24,000 in merchandise was stolen. In return for undercharging the customers, the suspects told detectives that they were promised small monetary kick-backs. Marra said she had done this approximately 25 times. Matthews said he did it approximately 4-5 times over the past year.

Both were taken into custody. Marra was released on $40,000 bond. Matthews was released on $20,000 bond.
