Tropical disturbance moving toward Florida has 30 % chance of becoming third named storm.

TreasureCoast, Fl- The National Weather Service is tracking a tropical wave off of the Bahamas. The storm is creating a small area of thunderstorms as it slowly moves to the west, northwest at about 15 miles per hour. The storm has just a 30 percent chance of developing over the next five days as it moves towards Florida. It’s expected to make a turn to the north as it approaches the state, keeping the worst of the storms hopefully out at sea. Forecasters say strong upper level winds should keep the storm from turning into something more powerful.

It is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression or storm, but it will send a surge of moisture to Florida early this week, fueling showers and thunderstorms.

The area of disturbed weather has been dubbed Invest 94L by the National Hurricane Center (NHC). That’s a naming convention used to identify locations in the Atlantic that the NHC is tracking for possible tropical development.
