Before Trick or Treating research your neighborhood

It might be a good idea to do some research on the people in your neighborhood before you take your kids out trick-or-treating tonight. There are hundreds of registered sex offenders on the Treasure Coast, and by law they have nothing restricting them from celebrating Halloween. That’s why Police Departments are out in full force patrolling communities to protect Trick-or-Treaters. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office have been conducting checks on registered sex offenders in the area.

Sgt. Yesenia Carde with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office checked  on the 170 registered sex offenders in the county to make sure their information is up to date.

Even in cities like Jupiter where there are about 9 registered sex offenders, officers are patrolling. In popular trick-or-treating neighborhoods like “The Heights” who see thousands of children, safety is the top priority
