Tri-Rail returns to full schedule starting today

Palm Beach  County , Fl  (treasurecoast.com) -The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) has announced the return of Tri-Rail’s full schedule starting Monday, October 25, 2021. It has been about a year and a half since the train system’s schedule was first reduced due to the ridership effects of the pandemic, but the day has arrived for Tri-Rail’s full 50-weekday and 30-weekend schedule to return.

Tri-Rail service was reported to have the second highest ridership recovery among commuter railroads in the U.S., per the American Public Transportation Association’s Public Transportation Ridership Report for First Quarter 2021, and since then continues to show one of the biggest percentage ridership increases in the nation.

As Tri-Rail ridership plummeted towards 20% in March 2020, the train schedule was drastically reduced to 18 weekday and 12 weekend trains for several months. The schedule was incrementally increased another four times and ended just short of its full schedule on October 2020. Now one year later, the system will return to its full schedule with ridership at a steady 60% and growing.
