Treasure Coast High School Football Update.
The first round of the High School Football Regional Playoffs were Friday night.
Only two Treasure Coast teams made the tournament.
Vero Beach came into the playoffs ranked as one of the best teams in the state, and they showed why in a 42-19 rout of Olympia. They are now the highest ranked team remaining in the class 8a playoffs, after top ranked Deerfield Beach and #2 Miramar both lost. Vero now has home field advantage. They will host Sarasota-Riverview on Friday.
The winner will advance to the Regional Finals. Meanwhile, Westwood fell to Bishop Moore 34-21. The Panthers have lost four straight playoff games dating back to 2010, but are trending in the right direction after their first winning season in 7 years.
