Treasure Coast High School Football Kick Off

The high school football regular season kicked off Thursday night, and if that  game are any indication we are in for one heck of a season.

Martin County started off facing Port St Lucie. The game was tied 12-12 in the closing seconds, but the Tigers booted a 17-yard game winning field goal with no time left on the clock to win 15-12.

Earlier in the night Centennial got a win for their new head coach Josh Watkins, defeating Westwood 25-7.

Coming up Friday night the first week of the regular season continues with Central hosting Space Coast, South Fork taking on county rivals Jensen Beach, John Carroll Catholic at Okeechobee, and Treasure Coast at Winter Haven.

Speaking of Treasure Coast, it was announced this week that there will be big changes in the athletic department. Baseball coach and new athletic director Mike Sindone announced that he was leaving the school to take the head baseball coaching job at Hagerty High School in Oviedo. Sindone has been the baseball coach for the last four seasons, and was entering his first year as athletic director… taking over for Dan Comeau who retired after last year. Comeau had been the athletic director since the school opened in 2006.
