Could the Treasure Coast get a Brightline stop?

Could the Treasure Coast get a Brightline stop? Locals have been against the idea of 32 high speed trains cutting through Treasure Coast cities ever since the Brightline project was first announced. Part of the objection is that there wasn’t any planned stops on the Treasure Coast, but that might change. Brightline asked city managers from Vero Beach, Fort Pierce, Sebastian and Stuart to identify viable station locations.

Stuart City Attorney Michael Mortell introduced the idea to commissioners Monday.

Mortell said he would have to put together an information packet to present to commissioners in September. They would decide whether or not to move forward with a possible station. Brightline said it is giving the cities 60 days to pick a viable location for a possible station. It will be key, however, that the cities show support for these stations. Brightline said they would not be constructed without interest from local leaders.
