Treasure Coast Food Bank seeks volunteers

Ft. Pierce, Fl- In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day yesterday, the Treasure Coast Food Bank in Fort Pierce prepared meals to help more than 1,000 federal workers and their families in the area. The workers still have not received a paycheck this year due to the partial government shutdown. However, the food bank says they can’t do it alone and are asking for the public’s help.

They are looking for volunteers to pack food boxes all week, which will then be distributed to families in need. The only requirement to volunteer is you must be at least 8 years old. Volunteers are asked to head to the distribution center located at 401 Angle Rd. You can help with packing boxes from 9am to noon or 1pm to 4pm. If you can’t pack boxes there are still plenty of ways to get involved. You can donate food or items directly to the food bank or organize your own food drive. You can also make a cash donation at any time online at Stop Hunger dot org.
