Traffic Stop led to arrests of two unlicensed male suspects in possession of concealed firearm.

Port St Lucie, Fl- On November 5, 2019, Police arrested 20-year-old Andre Harrigan  and 21-year-old Mekhi McGowan. Both suspects were charged with Carrying Concealed Weapon- Unlicensed Firearm and Loitering and/or Prowling.

On November 5, 2019, at around 11:35 pm, patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on a black Dodge Charger. The Charger was traveling east on SW Crosstown Parkway. It was speeding at 62 mph in a posted speed limit of 45mph.

The Dodge Charger came to a stop at SE Eyerly Avenue/ SW Airoso Boulevard.

During the investigation, Police observed the barrel of a rifle (HiPoint 995 9mm) attempting to be concealed. It was sticking out of a towel located in the back seat of the car. It was in immediate reach of the two male passengers. As Andre Harrigan stepped out of the car, a black ski mask fell from his person and landed on the ground by the driver side door.

Combined with the rifle and ski mask, officers located additional items commonly used in conjunction with criminal activity. They found another another ski mask and gloves on Mekhi McGowan’s person.  They also found a magazine and loaded HiPoint 9mm handgun in the center console. It was  un-holstered and readily accessible. Also located were clear empty plastic ‘baggies’, a digital scale and a grinder. Both suspects were dressed in long sleeve hooded sweaters and dark pants. Andre Harrigan’s shirt was turned inside out preventing the shirt logo from being displayed. He also had an additional pair of pants (gray) on.

Andre Harrigan and Mekhi McGowan were arrested on the above charges and transported to the St Lucie County Jail.

In addition, Andre Harrigan was cited for the traffic violation (62mph/ posted 45mph).
