Traffic Shift and Lane Closures Starting this Week on

Long Awaited PSL Boulevard South, Segment 3 Construction Project

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – Starting this week, motorists can expect to see construction activities and changes along Port St. Lucie (PSL) Boulevard from SW Gatlin Boulevard to SW Darwin Boulevard. On PSL Boulevard, starting north of SW Aurelia, one northbound through-lane will be eliminated, leaving one through-lane and one dedicated left-turn lane onto westbound Gatlin Boulevard. The contractor will also be removing the existing median and closing median opening at both SW Yale Street and SW Cairo Avenue. The speed limit in the construction zone will be reduced to 30 mph.
The construction is part of Segment 3 of the PSL Boulevard Project that will reconstruct approximately 0.7 miles of the existing four-lane roadway from SW Gatlin Boulevard to SW Darwin Boulevard and a portion of Darwin Boulevard. The project includes the construction of new, additional left-turn lanes at both Darwin and Gatlin. It also includes conversion of the open swale drainage system to a closed underground system with curb and gutter, and the construction of multi-use paths, landscaped medians, irrigation, signalized intersections, roadway lighting and relocation of water and sewer lines. The project helps incorporate complete street elements while enhancing mobility for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists.
The City urges drivers to be vigilant and use patience while moving through construction zones. When driving, keep an eye out for signs and other indicators of construction, such as cones or barrels and slow down or come to a complete stop, if required. Motorists can expect delays. When making travel plans, take the time to research alternate routes when possible. Weather and other unforeseen circumstances can impact construction schedules and activities.
