Toxic Algae continues to roll into Martin County
Martin County, Fl- Toxic algae continues to roll into Martin County affecting local business and making people ill.
Yesterday, Cristina Maldonado and Jennie Pawlowsky from #toxic18 donned their masks to show the public this.
Florida Sportsman Magazine has temporarily closed their office due to the noxious fumes. Blue-green algae is coagulating in the canal behind the office. On the other side of the canal is an apartment building where many older adults live.

They also went to Sovereign Marina. Here workers are wearing masks and big expensive boats are surrounded by coagulating stinky gross algae.

Meanwhile in DC, our congressman Brian Mast was busy advocating for all of us and our water. Here is Brian asking about the level of water and pointing out the lake is kept high during the dry season. Water is a benefit to many but in the end we get slaughtered.

This week Brian Lapointe a local scientist from FAU stood up in front of the St Lucie Commission and again insisted the reason for the blooms are the “Septic Tanks of Martin County.”
Maybe it has to do with the money donated by Florida Crystals. We think this needs to be looked into.
Our Congressman is saying one thing. Our local elected officials are saying another.
TCPalm’s Editorial Board interviews Stuart City Commission Group I candidates Nick Blount (Nick Blount for Stuart) and Mike Meier .
Mr Blount was appointed to the commission with very little discussion and has a poor understanding of Everglades Restoration while Mike (I know this personally from discussing with him.) understands Everglades Restoration and the active leadership role a commissioner would play.

Again Merritt has a tremendous understanding of the water. He is extremely bothered over the raises the commission gave themselves over the people who work for the city. Take the time to listen to both these interviews.
