Tomorrow is the National Prescription Take Back Day

Treasurecoast, Fl- Tomorrow is the National Prescription Take Back day.

Bring your unused or unwanted prescription medication to various locations around the Treasure Coast in order to safely get rid of them.

Tomorrow from 10am to 2pm bring the medication to the Walgreens on St Lucie West Blvd, the Walgreens on Cove Road and US1, the Walgreens on Jensen Beach Blvd and Savannah Road, the CVS on Federal Highway in Stuart, and the Jupiter Island Police Department.

Stuart Police will be collecting your unwanted or expired prescription medications at CVS, located at 2284 SE Federal Highway Stuart, FL. This is an excellent way to combat the increase of prescription drug abuse.

If you have any questions, please contact Officer Jeffrey Kittredge at (772) 220-3911 or by email at jkittredge@ci.stuart.fl.us.

Pharmaceutical Waste Management

Do not flush your medicines down the toilet or down the drain. Use a disposal site or collection event when available, or dispose of old medications in the trash.

Here is an old post I wrote called “Don’t let your aspirin grow old”    Essentially, when you open up the bottle of aspirin and it smells like vinegar you should get rid of it. If you are taking for cardiac health you need to be even more cautious. I recommend to my patients to buy the three pack of small bottles. That way you have bottles with seals.
