Thumbs up Pineland Prairie, thumbs down Harmony Ranch

Martin County, Fl- Pineland Prairie took a step forward yesterday towards becoming a reality. County Commissioners voted 4-1 to move forward with the project, a 3,400 acre mixed use development west of Palm City between I95 and the Turnpike. During public comment most people spoke out in favor of the development, which will create a walkable community with everything from residential to office space to shopping. The developer has also pledged to keep large tracts of land undeveloped. Commissioner Sarah Heard was the lone dissenting vote. Meanwhile, another development was unanimously voted down. Harmony Ranch was a 2,600 acre development that would have allowed more than 2,400 homes to be created.
