Martin County, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- Three law enforcement officials were rushed to the hospital Wednesday after falling ill during an investigation, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said. Three Martin County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to investigate an overdose death that occurred at Hope Animal Cancer Clinic in Hobe Sound.
Within a short time, all three began experiencing significant and alarming symptoms of respiratory distress, dizziness, nausea and confusion. They notified supervisors and immediately called for medical assistance. The deputies were transported to the hospital where they were treated for what appears to be airborne exposure to a substance used to sedate animals.
The deputies, which include a Criminal Investigations Detective, a Narcotics/Special investigations Detective, and a Uniform Patrol Deputy were treated for this exposure and released from the hospital.
