Lakewood Park Library Hosts New Monthly Gardening Workshop

FORT PIERCE – A new monthly gardening workshop is taking root at the Lakewood Park Branch Library, starting Thursday, March 24.
On the fourth Thursday of each month at 1 p.m., certified Master Gardener Lynda Salsbury will lead a lecture on gardening with helpful hints to create a garden that is both functional and beautiful. No reservations are required for these free lectures.

The Easter Bunny will be hopping once again, into Port St. Lucie’s annual Easter events. Don’t miss the chance to visit and take pictures with the big bunny at three different events in March.

Easter Bunny Visit
The Minsky Gym will host the Easter Bunny Visit on Thursday, March 24 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Boys and girls ages 5 and younger and their families are invited to bring an Easter basket to participate in an egg hunt, plus sit on the bunny’s lap and pose for a picture. The cost is $3 per child. For more information, contact the Minsky Gym at (772) 344-4142. The Minsky Gym is located at 750 S.W. Darwin Blvd.

Easter Breakfast
The Easter Breakfast will be held at the Community Center on Friday, March 25 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Children ages 2 to 6 will enjoy a continental breakfast, dying Easter eggs, and of course, visiting with the Easter Bunny. The cost per child is $9.50. The breakfast is for kids only. Parents are asked to register early for this popular event by calling the Community Center at (772) 878-2277. The Community Center is located at 2195 S.E. Airoso Blvd.

Eggstravaganza
Eggstravaganza is a free event that will be held on Saturday, March 26 at Whispering Pines Park starting at 9 a.m. with an egg hunt. Children ages 10 and under will hunt and gather from 14,000 eggs. Afterwards, the Easter Bunny will be waiting to meet with each and every boy and girl for a picture. For more information, contact Parks & Recreation at (772) 878-2277. Whispering Pines Park is located at 800 S.W. Darwin Blvd.

Hurston Library Goes “Inside Out” for Spring Break

FORT PIERCE – The Zora Neale Hurston Branch Library will present Disney/Pixar’s “Inside Out” (2015) on Wednesday, March 23 at 3 p.m. for its Spring Break Fun for Kids event.
Featuring the voices of Amy Poehler, Bill Hader and Lewis Black, this animated feature takes place inside the mind of a pre-teen as she is uprooted from her Midwestern life to San Francisco. Watch as her emotions – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness – conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school. Rated PG with a running time of 95 minutes, moviegoers are encouraged to bring a pillow or blanket.
Following the film, students are encourage to stay behind and create holiday-themed crafts.

It’s Open Season at the Morningside Library March 23

PORT ST. LUCIE – The Morningside Branch Library celebrates Spring Break with a showing of “Open Season: Scared Silly” (2015) on Wednesday, March 23 at 2 p.m.
Featuring the voices of Will Townsend and Melissa Sturm, Elliot, Boog and all of the beloved woodland creatures return for a brand-new, animated, comedy adventure.
Best suited for ages 5-10, the movie is rated PG with a running time of 79 minutes. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring a pillow or blanket.
This program is free and open to the public – thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the Library.
