The All Aboard Shell Game

Fighting Non-stop to Stop All Aboard Florida

All Aboard Florida recently announced the production of a shell car for its Brightline passenger service. That’s “shell” as in empty.
One More Distraction
For months AAF hucksters have been distracting the public with propaganda. They magically reveal renderings of modern stations with great public fanfare. They present plans for vibrantly colored trains with more hoopla. And, they keep promising service by early 2017.
In reality, A 2017 start looks very unlikely.

 The Grand Illusion.
A shell car, flashy renderings and big promises. All Aboard Florida has created a grand illusion to make the public think it’s a done deal. It’s not.

The federal government graciously gave them 12 more months to issue their bonds. But, the bond market is likely to be in the dumper for far longer thanks to rising interest rates.

Construction on the tracks between Cocoa Beach and Orlando can’t begin until the Army Corps sees more evidence that precious wetlands and wildlife are safely protected. That takes time.

 Maybe Delay Is Good.
Delay is usually bad. But, what if the real reason for AAF’s far-fetched passenger train proposal is to increase freight capacity for its sister company, FECR? AAF has money to make track improvements between Miami and West Palm Beach. Then, they’d have capacity for more freight trains running up Florida’s east coast with the increased cargo expected to land in Miami.

Who Wins The Shell Game?
Usually, the guy moving the shells. That’s All Aboard Florida. They want you to think the game’s over. It’s imperative that you show them it’s not.
