Teen drowns after being thrown from boat

The body of a 15 year old teenager was  discovered yesterday by dive teams in the Indian River Lagoon, just south of the Alma Lee Loy Bridge. The teen was thrown off the boat after hitting a wave around 11:00 am on Sunday morning. He was not wearing a life vest.

After a search by the Indian River County Fire Rescue, Coast Guard, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the Vero Beach Police Department confirmed the 15-year-old boy’s body was discovered Sunday afternoon.

The boy was thrown into the water when the boat he was riding in hit a wave while towing another person on a wakeboard.

His name will be released today as well as an update from FWC.
