Teen arrested for breaking into police cruiser.

On August 1, 2017, Port St. Lucie Police arrested a 15 year old male.  He is charged with armed burglary to a vehicle, grand theft, grant theft of a firearm. Also charged with felony criminal mischief, unlawful possession of a firearm by a minor, resisting officers without violence, and violation of Probation. He broke into a Fort Pierce Police Department cruiser.

The investigation began on March 26, 2017 at around 2:00 am when police were called to a residential area for reports of shots fired.  During the search of the area police located a Fort Pierce Police Cruiser parked in a residential driveway with its doors open.  Further examination of the cruiser revealed that the front driver’s side window had been busted out.  The inside of the car was ransacked and doused with bleach.

The Fort Pierce police officer told Port St. Lucie Police that that the suspect stole the gun rack that held his Bushmaster AR15 rifle along with a Glock handgun, 2 rifle magazines with ammunition and 2 Glock magazines with ammunition.  The suspect also stole a tint meter and a laptop computer.

Crime Scene investigators processed the scene and were able to recover blood samples from the inside driver’s side door where the suspect cut himself on the broken glass. DNA results came back belonging to the 15 year male.

When the detectives went to the 15 year old’s house to arrest him he fled out the back of the house.  After a chase detectives were able to catch up with the suspect and arrest him for the burglary of the police cruiser.  The 15 year old was already on probation for a previous arrest.
