Teaching Our Kids to be Community Helpers with the St Lucie County Beach Basket Program!

A mini-adventure by Florida Family Insiders

Where are they today? Florida Family Insiders are at Dollman Beach in St Lucie County, doing their part for Earth Day 2022. It looks like the Insider Kids are having a blast being young stewards of this beach environment. While they’re working hard doing their part as community helpers with the Beach Basket Program, it’s not all work and no play. There’s plenty of time for fun in the sun, and I’d say these enthusiastic and energetic kids are experts at fun!

About the Beach Basket Program

St. Lucie County has partnered with Coastal Connections, Inc. on a six-month pilot program to install beach baskets to clean up debris at three beaches – Pepper Park, Blind Creek, and Dollman.

Each new Beach Basket station will feature grocery-style baskets for beachgoers to use when picking up trash and debris from the beaches. Stations will also feature a scale and QR code to measure and report the amount of trash they’ve picked up, for those wanting to track their impact.
