Suspect arrested after Orbeez challenge injures 16-year-old girl in Port St. Lucie

Port St. Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com)-The Port St. Lucie Police has reported a suspect was arrested after the Orbeez challenge injures a 16-year-old girl in Port St. Lucie.

This is what they said:

On April 18th, PSLPD investigated an incident in which a 16-year-old victim was shot by a SplatRBall gun in the face with a soft gel water ball while she walked on a sidewalk, sustaining swelling to her eye. Officers learned during the investigation that a group of occupants were traveling in a vehicle when a 16-year-old male suspect in the backseat fired a SplatRBall gun at the victim. The 16-year-old suspect was arrested for aggravated battery and taken to the St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Center. The SplatRBall gun used during the incident was recovered from the suspect’s house.

This incident coincides with the viral TikTok “Orbeez Challenge” circulating across the country. The Orbeez Challenge encourages TikTok users to buy soft gel water balls, load them in airsoft guns, and fire them at victims.

“This challenge can cause injury to others and damage to property. PSLPD will investigate these incidents thoroughly and will pursue criminal charges against anyone who participates in this behavior. Please talk to your children about the seriousness of these incidents and partner with us to keep our children and community safe,” stated Assistant Chief Richard Del Toro.
