Stuck screech owl rescued

SCREECH OWL STUCK IN A CHIMNEY RESTING AFTER BEING RESCUED BY TOWN POLICE CHIEF

A young screech owl is resting comfortably today after being stuck in a chimney this morning. The owl got trapped in the chimney at a home on Hilcrest Drive in Sewall’s Point.

It was the the town’s Police Chief Tina Ciechanowski who was near-by. She managed to safely get the owl out of the chimney.

Martin County Sheriff’s Animal Services Officer Michele Thonney transported the owl to our friends at Treasure Coast Wildlife Hospital for observation. Wildlife experts are trying to get her to munch on a few crickets to regain some strength. If all goes well, the owl will be released back into the wild tomorrow.
