Stuart Man attempts to strangles ex-girlfriend, prevents her from calling 911

Police arrested a man in Stuart after he attempted to strangled his ex-girlfriend and then  prevented her from calling 911.

According to the Stuart Police Department, Geremia Mauriello, 18, got into an argument with his ex-girlfriend, 16, on April 6.

Mauriello’s 16 year old ex-girlfriend, traveled to his home via Uber. She went to talk about the recent breakup. While in his home the victim and Mauriello began to argue. The argument escalated and turned physical when Mauriello grabbed the victims head and began yelling at her. When the victim tried to fight off Mauriello, they both fell to the floor. While on the floor Mauriello began to strangle the victim and covered her mouth so she could not scream for help. The victim broke free and tried to leave the home. As the victim tried to leave Mauriello pushed the victim into the wall and tried to grab her throat again. Then, he grabbed her phone and prevented her from calling 9-1-1.

The victim was able to escape Mauriello’s home and contact law enforcement.

Mauriello was arrested and held on no bond for domestic battery by strangulation and depriving a victim from calling 9-1-1 on 04/06/2018.
