Stuart Guitar Instructor Arrested
The victim was able to provide Detectives with detailed description of items that were located in Sharp’s studio. After executing a search warrant, the items were located and the victim’s account of the incidents was corroborated.
In May, 2016, Stuart Police Criminal Investigations Unit received a complaint from a 15 year old female that her guitar instructor was inappropriately touching her and providing alcohol during her lessons.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Daniel Bruce Sharp had been giving guitar lessons to the victim for the past two years. Shortly after beginning to take lessons, Sharp began to show the victim sexually explicit photos. Eventually, he began to inappropriately touch the victim and provide alcohol during the sessions. Mr. Sharp had been teaching at this location since 1994.
An arrest warrant was issued for Sharp. On Friday, June 24, 2016, Sharp turned himself in to Stuart Police. He was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious act with a victim under 16 years of age, showing harmful material to a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was transported to the Martin County Jail and held in lieu of a $90,000 bond.
