“Strange Magic” and Other Events Take Over the Fort Pierce Library for June
FORT PIERCE – Goblins, elves, fairies and imps stop into the Fort Pierce Branch Library as it presents “Strange Magic” (2015) as part of its Saturday Movie Matinee on Saturday, June 20 at 2 p.m.
Featuring the voices of Evan Rachel Wood and Kristin Chenoweth, mythical creatures battle over a powerful potion in this animated feature. The movie is rated PG with a running time of 99 minutes. Best suited for ages 5-10, moviegoers are encouraged to bring a pillow or blanket and are welcomed to bring their own snacks and drinks. Children must attend with a parent or caregiver.
Parents are also reminded to stop by the Fort Pierce Library every Wednesday and Friday at 10:30 a.m. for summer storytimes. And don’t miss the Hero Lab on Thursdays (June 18 & 25) at 10 a.m., featuring hands-on science experiments for grades K-5th.
Special programs offered as part of the Summer Spectacular include:
- The Super Readers Show on Wednesday, June 17 at 2 p.m. – Join the Super Readers for a performance of magical proportions.
- Hobe Sound Nature Center on Wednesday, June 24 at 2 p.m. – Naturalists will discuss “The Wildlife Around Us.”
- Atlantic Coast Theatre for Youth on Saturday, June 27 at 2 p.m. – Multi-cultural folktales and songs are brought to life.
Be sure to enroll your child in the Library’s Sumer Reading Challenge where they can win free prizes such as Kindle Fire. There’s also the Teen Read Challenge, offering free audio books.
