On May 9, 2016 shortly after 4:00 pm, Port St. Lucie Police went to the 1100  block of SE Walton Lakes Drive for reports of a man with a gun.  Police learned that the man had shot his gun off in the development and is threatening “suicide by cop”.  Police have blocked off the entrance to the Harbour Palms complex due to public safety.  SWAT officers and negotiators are on scene attempting to resolve the situation with the man.  Police are asking members of the public to avoid the area of Walton and Village Green Drive.

Update:

Glen Thornton Meyers had barricaded himself in a home during the course of the standoff. Police tried to negotiate with him to surrender peacefully for hours.  They used CS gas but Myers refused to come out.

Last night at 11:50 PM the Port St Lucie SWAT team made their was into the residence and located Myers in the bathroom. They deployed a laser to subdue him. He in now in custody.
