St. Lucie County’s Summer Reading Challenge Returns

  The St. Lucie County Library System’s Summer Reading Challenge will take place June 2 through Aug. 5 with a chance to win a free Kindle Fire. Plus, every student that completes the challenge will earn a pair of free tickets to a St. Lucie Mets game at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie.

Students in kindergarten through 5th grade need to read at least six hours or six books and bring their completed log to any branch library to receive a popular children’s book to keep. If they log 12 hours or 12 books over the summer, they’ll receive a Reading Medal and a voucher for a pair of St. Lucie Mets tickets.

Teens can also take part in the Summer Reading Challenge. Young adults (grades 6-12 need to read 12 books and tell us your favorite moment in each book. When they turn in their completed log, they’ll be entered into their branch’s grand prize drawing.

The grand prize drawing will take place at your branch on Friday, Aug. 11. Beginning June 2, student readers are invited to stop into any branch library to register and to pick up a reading log.

  •  Friends of the Library
  •  St. Lucie Mets
  •  Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County.

In addition to the reading challenge, the library will be hosting a variety of weekly programs throughout the summer.
