St. Lucie County Takes Book Groups Online, Outside in January
- LUCIE COUNTY – The St. Lucie County Library System is taking its book discussion groups online and outside starting in January.
The Quarantine Book Group will continue to offer virtual discussions via Zoom:
- Thursday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. featuring “The Searcher” by Tana French. Limited copies are available in print, e-book and online audiobook format. Participation is limited to the first 15 registrants. - Wednesday Jan. 27 at 2 and 7 p.m. featuring “Normal People” by Sally Rooney. To take part in this group, check out one of the digital versions of the book (unlimited copies will be available) and pre-register using our online form at www.stlucieco.org/library. For those book lovers who crave in-person interaction, several libraries will host Open Air Book Discussions:
- Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m., featuring “Long Petal of the Sea” by Isabel Allende at the Lewis Branch Library, 2950 SW Rosser Boulevard, Port St. Lucie – 772-871-5470;
- Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m., featuring “The Geography of Bliss: One Grump’s Search for the Happiest Places in the World” by Eric Weiner at the Morningside Branch Library, 2410 Morningside Boulevard, Port St. Lucie – 772-337-5632;
- Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 3:30 p.m., featuring “Miss Julia Speaks Her Mind” by Ann B. Ross at the Morningside Branch Library, 2410 Morningside Boulevard, Port St. Lucie – 772-337-5632.
Seating for these events will be provided or feel free to bring your own chair. This drop-in program is open to all adults and is offered at no charge. A limited number of copies of the monthly selection are available for check out at the branch.
