St. Lucie County Libraries Trainings Help Conquer Technology 

  1. LUCIE COUNTY – St. Lucie County’s Library System has free technology training sessions at five different branches to help you take advantage of the technology that’s available. In addition to the scheduled classes, all six branch libraries offer one-on-one technology help by appointment.

Scheduled classes for March include (advanced registration is not required):

  • Wednesday, March 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. – Apple: Building on the Basics at the Pruitt Campus Library, 500 NW California Blvd., Port St. Lucie. Staff will review closing apps, connecting to Bluetooth, updating your device and more. Previous attendance at an Apple Basics class is recommended.
  • Thursday, March 3 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. – Apple: Building on the Basics at the Kilmer Branch, 101 Melody Lane, Fort Pierce. Staff will review closing apps, connecting to Bluetooth, updating your device and more. Previous attendance at an Apple Basics class is recommended.

  • Friday, March 4 from 9 to 10 a.m. – Introduction to Libby at the Lakewood Park Branch, 7605 Santa Barbara Drive, Fort Pierce. Learn about Libby, a free app from Overdrive where you can borrow eBooks, digital audiobooks and magazines from the library.
  • Saturday, March 5 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. – From Overdrive to Libby at the Morningside Branch Library, 2410 SE Morningside Blvd., Port St. Lucie. Effective Feb. 23, Overdrive will be removed from app stores in preparation for the company’s switch to Libby later this year. Get a jump start on the transition, so you can continue using the library’s free eBook services.
  • Wednesday, March 9 at 3 to 5 p.m. – Android – Building on the Basics at the Pruitt Campus Library, 500 NW California Blvd., Port St. Lucie. Staff will cover topics such as Bluetooth, closing apps, updating your phone and more. Previous attendance at an Android Basics class is recommended.

  • Thursday, March 10 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. – Computer Basics at the Kilmer Branch. Learn the basics of using a computer in this hands-on workshop. We will review beginner level ‘how-tos’ such as using the mouse and accessing the internet.
  • Friday, March 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Tech Talk: Job Applications at the Lewis Branch, 2950 SW Rosser Blvd., Port St. Lucie. Staff will provide some insights on how to use the web and technology to help you in your job search. Laptops will be provided, but space is limited to the first 10 people.
  • Saturday, March 12 at 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. – Computer Basics at the Morningside Branch, 2410 SE Morningside Blvd., Port St. Lucie.  Learn the basics of using a computer in this hands-on workshop. We will review beginner level ‘how-tos’ such as using the mouse and accessing the internet. Laptops will be provided, but space is limited to the first 10 people.

  • Wednesday, March 16 at 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Beginning Cell Phone Photography at the Lewis Branch, 2950 SW Rosser Blvd., Port St. Lucie. Explore auto flash, live photos and settings on both iPhone and Android smartphones.
  • Saturday, March 19 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. – Internet Security at the Morningside Branch Library, 2410 SE Morningside Blvd., Port St. Lucie. Staff will explore the key areas of internet security including understanding security threats and practicing safe computing.
  • Tuesday, March 22 from 6 to 7 p.m. – Recursos de la Biblioteca (Library Resources – in Spanish) at the Morningside Branch Library, 2410 SE Morningside Blvd., Port St. Lucie. Presented in Spanish, this class will include a tour of the library, an overview of online databases and information on accessing our services with your phone. (Esta clase incluye una visita a la biblioteca, un resumen de los recursos electrónicos, e información sobre el acceso a nuestros servicios por su teléfono.)

  • Wednesday, March 23 from 3 to 5 p.m. – Computer Basics at the Pruitt Campus Library, 500 NW California Blvd., Port St. Lucie. Learn the basics of using a computer in this hands-on workshop.   • Friday, March 25 from 9 to 10 a.m. – Introduction to Cloud Library at the Lakewood Park Branch, 7605 Santa Barbara Drive, Fort Pierce. Learn about Cloud Library, which has thousands of free eBooks and audiobooks that you can access on your computer, tablet or phone.

  • Friday, March 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Tech Talk: Excel for Beginners at the Lewis Branch, 2950 SW Rosser Blvd., Port St. Lucie.  Library staff will provide an overview of the different features and functions of Microsoft Excel.
  • Wednesday, March 30 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. – Apple: Building on the Basics at the Morningside Branch, 2410 SE Morningside Blvd., Port St. Lucie. Staff will review closing apps, connecting to Bluetooth, updating your device and more. Previous attendance at an Apple Basics class is recommended.
  • Wednesday, March 30 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. – Basic Photo Editing at the Pruitt Campus Library, 500 NW California Blvd., Port St. Lucie. Using the free GNU Image Manipulation Program to adjust photos for color, brightness, contrast and remove imperfections.

  • Thursday, March 31 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. – Android: Building on the Basics at the Kilmer Branch, 101 Melody Lane, Fort Pierce. Staff will cover topics such as Bluetooth, closing apps, updating your phone and more. Previous attendance at an Android Basics class is recommended.

Virtual Reality Session – Don’t miss a chance to immerse yourself in a 3D world. The virtual reality sessions are open to everyone, but children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Saturday, March 5 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Lewis Branch Library, 2950 SW Rosser Blvd., Port St. Lucie.
  • Thursday, March 10 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch Library,  7605 Santa Barbara Drive, Fort Pierce.
  • Saturday, March 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Hurston Branch Library, 3008 Avenue D, Fort Pierce.

For residents who would like more individual assistance, all six branch libraries offer one-on-one technology help for adults by appointment.  Adults can contact their local branch library to schedule a session. Please remember to bring all your passwords, St. Lucie County Library card and make sure all your devices are fully charged.

A reminder that all St. Lucie County Libraries have expanded Wi-Fi available from the parking lot 24 hours a day; seven days a week.
