St. Lucie County To Host Virtual Contracting Opportunity Workshop Nov. 17
ST LUCIE COUNTY, FL (treasurecoast.com) – St. Lucie County will host a Virtual Contracting Opportunity Workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. via Zoom. This virtual workshop is designed to help local and regional vendors, contractors and other businesses learn more about St. Lucie County’s procurement process and how they can submit for future projects.
St. Lucie County received $63.7 million through the American Rescue Plan with plans to invest in $52.2 million in infrastructure projects focusing on utilities and stormwater systems. These projects will require outside contractors focusing on engineering, construction, utilities, stormwater and more.
This 90-minute virtual workshop will explain how and where St. Lucie County advertises formal solicitations, which includes Bids, Request for Proposals and Request for Qualifications. The workshop will feature details on local and federal guidelines, bonding and insurance requirements, as well as take questions from prospective vendors.

The federal government allocated $650 billion to be distributed to local governments around the country to assist with public health responses; addressing negative economic impacts; replacing public sector revenue loss; premium pay for our essential workers and to invest in water, sewer or broadband infrastructure projects. All local governments have a deadline of Dec. 31, 2026 to expend these funds.
St. Lucie County plans to invest $52.2 million in capital projects that fall under the water, sewer or broadband infrastructure category; $6.1 million to support the public health response and $2.4 million to address negative economic impacts caused by the pandemic. Roughly, $34.1 million of the $52.2 million in infrastructure will be used to expand water and sewer lines in the Lakewood Park and Midway Road areas of the county; while $17.8 million will be used to collect and treat stormwater countywide. These infrastructure projects focus on reducing flooding, improving water quality in the Indian River Lagoon and St. Lucie Estuary, as well as spurring economic development.
