St. Lucie County Fire District Inspector Joe Cox and Camy make up one of only 270 K-9 fire partnerships in the country. Camy was immediately put to work after a car fire spread to a home in Port St. Lucie Monday morning. Police say that the fire began in a parked car in a driveway in the 1900 block of SW Davis Street and spread to the garage. Some nearby houses were evacuated as a precaution. Camy did not detect accelerants and the fire was determined to be an accident. However, due to extensive damage and smoke, the residence is currently uninhabitable. There were no injuries and the Red Cross is assisting the victims.
