At approximately 2:28 this afternoon, the pilot of a small plane made an emergency landing in an open field near Minute Maid Rd. west of Ft. Pierce after experiencing engine failure. The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit arrived on scene to transport the pilot to an accessible location for evaluation. No injuries were reported and no other souls were on board at the time of the incident. No further information is available at this time.
