Sustainability: Slow Food Gold & Treasure Coast

Slow Food Gold & Treasure Coast (GTC) is a chapter of a global organization that cares about local farmers, ranchers, fishers; animal welfare, preserving food culture and protecting the environment.

We link the pleasures of the table with a commitment to protect the community, culture, knowledge and environment that make this pleasure possible.
Our mission as a grassroots membership organization is good, clean and fair food for all.
Our chapter meets bi-monthly at a park within our chapter area, we enjoy a potluck, a brief meeting, and updates on what is planned for the future.  These potlucks are open to the public and those with similar interests are welcome.
Our chapter has championed the Seminole Pumpkin which has been documented back to the 1700’s.  It was in danger of extinction, and now listed of the ‘Ark of Taste’.

We also have a Farm Tour the 3rd Saturday in February each year, a Future Chef Competition with area High Schools with a Culinary Arts Program, the Feast of Santa Lucia in December to celebrate the naming day of St Lucie County along with Farm Feasts held throughout the year to raise funds for what we do in the communities.
