St. Lucie Public Safety Hosts Hurricane Exercise for Community Organizations July 29

FORT PIERCE – St. Lucie County’s Public Safety Department and SAFER St. Lucie will host a hurricane exercise for faith-based and community response organizations on Saturday, July 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Douglas M. Anderson Emergency Operations Center.

This tabletop exercise will consist of presenting video vignettes about a Category 2 Hurricane, “Hurricane Adam,” impacting St. Lucie County followed by a series of questions to the group. Participants will  learn  how to best prepare for the storm. Also how to respond  and assist the community in recovery from the storm based on their own roles, responsibilities, and agency emergency plans.

Designed for local non-profit, faith-based and community response organizations, the goal of this exercise is to the identify gaps in the capabilities of the participating agencies prior to the landfall of a hurricane, as well as the best ways to resolve those issues.

Pre-registration is required prior to Friday, July 21 by visiting: https://onxsystem.com/?q=onx/ex/2428.

The Douglas M. Anderson Emergency Operations Center is located at 15305 W. Midway Road. For questions or additional information contact St. Lucie County Education and Disaster Specialist Bob Worcester at 772-462-8222 or WorcesterR@stlucieco.org.
