SLC Heath Advisory for Bacteria Levels

***HEALTH ADVISORY FOR BACTERIA LEVELS***
***Beaches and North Fork of the St. Lucie River***

St. Lucie County Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County will continue a swimming advisory for the following beaches:

  • South Beach Causeway
  • Jetty Park Beach

The new sample results found higher than normal levels of enteric bacteria. Potential health risks for those who ingest or come in contact with the water include upset stomach, diarrhea, eye irritation and skin rashes.

The department has lifted the swimming advisory for:

  • JC Park Beach
  • River Park Marina – North Fork of the St. Lucie River
  • Westmoreland Canoe Launch – North Fork of the St. Lucie River

These sample results are in the acceptable range for enteric bacteria.

The Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County will continue to perform additional testing until results are satisfactory.  Samples were collected September 26 and 28, 2017. Beach and river sampling is scheduled for MondayOctober 2, 2017 and the results will be available Wednesday October 4, 2017.
