St Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara is alerting residents to another scam.
Callers posing as members of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service have victimized two members of the community.
Mascara reminds residents the IRS will always send taxpayers a written notification of any tax due via the U.S. mail and never ask for credit card, debit card or prepaid card information over the telephone.
One resident was taken for almost four thousand dollars by the scam.
