Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “Flakka continues to be a growing problem on the Treasure Coast. One of our top priorities for 2016 is to get this dangerous drug off the streets and out of the hands of our youth. This is another case of convicted felons with a loaded gun selling drugs in our community and we will not tolerate it.” Bennefield and Holmes were both charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of less than twenty grams of marijuana. Bennefield received the additional charge of possession of a controlled substance. Both are being held at the Indian River County Jail awaiting first appearance hearings.
