Scam alert and stolen mail in SLC

Scam alert and stolen mail in SLC.

The St Lucie County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about leaving items in their mailboxes.

Items are being stolen out of both residential and USPS mail drops according to the Sheriff.

They suggest physically bringing any items you have to send into a local post office to send them.

Stolen mail can not only lead to the loss of valuables like gift cards or cash, but can lead to a stolen identity.

The Sheriff’s Office is also warning of a new scam over email.

People have complained about getting an email from someone who claims to be a member of the US Military deployed overseas, asking to send you money in exchange for your bank account number.
