Saturday Guided Hikes Return to the Oxbow

Fall is here. The weather is gorgeous and there’s no better time to get outside and relish the fresh air and pine-scented forest of the Oxbow Eco-Center.

With 225 acres located adjacent to the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, there is a lot to discover at the Oxbow.  Join the staff on Saturdays (November through April) from 9 to 10 a.m. for a free guided hike and learn about the interplay of plants and animals that exists in some of Florida’s natural habitats.

To participate please register by emailing oxbow@stlucieco.org or call 772-785-5833 by 4 p.m. the Friday before your chosen hike date. The hikes are free and appropriate for ages 5 and older. Feel free to bring binoculars or a camera and we highly suggest a hat, closed-toe shoes, and a refillable water bottle.

Whether you just want to get some exercise in the serene setting of the natural world or you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of foraging wildlife and seasonal blossoms, this is an excellent opportunity to enjoy one of St. Lucie County’s most treasured natural resources.

Located at 5400 NE St. James Drive in Port St. Lucie, the Oxbow Eco-Center is a St. Lucie County Environmental Learning Center. For more information visit www.oxboweco.com.
