Residents & Police Work Together to Locate Vehicle Involved in Shooting

At approximately 8:00 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015, Fort Pierce Police recovered the vehicle that was involved in a shooting on Wednesday.

Officers received a tip that a vehicle fitting the description of the blue Mazda Protégé being sought was located in the 1600 block of Parkland Court in Fort Pierce.
Shooting victim, Tyrea Parker, 19, was a passenger in the vehicle when he was struck multiple times in the legs. He was also transported to a local hospital in the same vehicle.

Suspect, Nakia Johnson, 17, was arrested and charged with Shooting into an Occupied Conveyance for firing shots into the car which was occupied by multiple individuals, including Parker. Nakia Johnson was transported to the St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Center where he is being held.

A stray bullet struck a St. Lucie County School bus on the left rear side about three-quarters of the way down. There were six Westwood High School students on the bus. No one the bus was injured.

Detectives are continuing to follow up leads, attempting to determine a motive, and find out the identity of the unknown occupants of the Mazda Protégé.

The Fort Pierce Police Department would like to thank all of the residents who have provided tips to our officers and detectives which helped to recover the vehicle involved in the shooting and aided the department in identifying and arresting Nakia Johnson.
