Rescue Pet of the Week: Lucy

Rescue Pet of the Week: Lucy

Palm City, FLA- Lucy is a sweet 3 year old American Bulldog mix. She is very tolerant of older children and loves to play dress-up! She has lived with other dogs in the past and is quite tidy in her kennel. Lucy does have degenerative hip disease that causes her hips to be a bit ouchy. As such, it is not recommended that she live with very young children. She is on medication for her hips to help with any pain and will need a follow-up with her new family’s vet. Lucy was returned to our care in September after her adopter’s house was destroyed during Hurricane Irma. They tried to sneak her into their temporary home, but the owner found out and told them they would need to either “get rid of the dog” or be evicted.

Lucy recently had a mini-vacation from the shelter with a foster family. They said she was as sweet as can be, very laid back, and had excellent house manners. Lucy seems to think she is a lapdog- which at 70 pounds can be a bit overwhelming! She already knows several basic commands such as “sit” and “shake” and seems to be completely house trained. She prefers short walks over long runs and is quite the couch potato.  If you’re looking for the perfect snuggle buddy who enjoys the occasional short adventure, Lucy is the gal for you.

Lucy’s adoption has been sponsored by Lisa at Loanwise Financial! Stop on by the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast main shelter at 4100 SW Leighton Farm Ave. in Palm City to visit Lucy. All available pets are also listed online at hstc1.org. If you’d like additional information on Lucy or any of our available pets, please give us a call at 772-223-8822.
