Remembering 9-11

TreasureCoast, Fl- Today is the 18th anniversary of the September 11th attacks that changed the country and the world forever.

Several memorials and events are set up to make sure that we never forget.

In Palm City, a memorial will be held at the Peter & Julie Cummings Library from 7-8:30pm. That will include a candlelight vigil and is presented by USA 9/11 First Responders.

In Stuart, the United Way of Martin County is holding their Day of Caring volunteer event from 8:30-11am at the Martin County Fairgrounds.

A brief service will be held before volunteers work on several different projects.

In Port St Lucie, a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony begins at 8:30am at the Civic Center. The theme this year is Sacrifice and Service. It will take place next to the 9/11 monument on the front plaza.

And in Fort Pierce, the city will hold a memorial service to honor CeeCee Ross Lyles, who perished on Flight 93 when it crashed in a Pennsylvania field. The memorial service is scheduled for 10am at the Liberty Garden on Indian River Drive where a life-sized bronze statue of the Fort Pierce native overlooks the Indian River.
