Registration Open for UF/IFAS Florida Master Naturalist Environmental Interpretative Course

The UF/ IFAS Extension St. Lucie County Office is pleased to announce the upcoming Florida Master Naturalist Program (FMNP) Environmental Interpretation course. This FMNP course provides 24 hours of educational coursework including presentations, class discussions and on-your-own field activities. It is designed to make participants better environmental interpreters and educators, so that others may learn about Florida’s natural history and conservation issues. This course will cover concepts such as the fundamentals of interpretation, key elements of an effective interpretive program, how to create themes, sub-messages and transitions, group management, addressing diverse audience needs, developing interpretive displays and practicing interpretive techniques.

Environmental Interpretation is divided into three workshops: Interpretive presentations, guided interpretive programs and interpretive displays. The lead Florida Master Naturalist Instructor is Ken Gioeli, Extension Agent IV/Natural Resources & Environment.

Upon completion of the course, participants receive Environmental Interpretation certification, complete with certificate, patch and pin from the University of Florida.  The registration fee includes detailed course manuals, hands-on experience and registration in an online database that can be used for verification purposes such as might be required for obtaining CEUs, in-service credits or resume checks. Extension programs are open to all persons without regard to race, color, sex, age, disability, religion or national origin. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the course participants will be using Zoom.
