Registration fee reduction possible for boat owners

Registration fee reduction possible for boat owners.

Martin County Tax Collector Ruth Pietruszewski is reminding boat owners of two new ways to reduce your registration fees. Effective July 1st, boats fitted with EPIRB’s are eligible for the reduced fee. Owners with a PLB, Personal Locator Beacon, are also eligible. If an individual is registering multiple boats fitted with EPIRB’s, they’ll receive the discount on each registration. If they own a Personal Locator Beacon they will only get the discount one time. This is regardless of how many vessels they own. The EPIRB’s and PLB’s must be registered through NOAA in order to qualify.

Ruth “Ski” Pietruszewski, Martin County Tax Collector:

Effective July 1, 2017 registration fees have been reduced.  vessels that have Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) or Vessel owners that have Personal Locator Beacons (PLB’s) are affected.  If the primary registrant owns more than one vessel that is equipped with an EPIRB, they will receive the reduced registration fees for each vessel that is proven to have a registered beacon with the NOAA. For the primary registrant who owns a PLB that is registered with NOAA, you are only allowed one fee reduction, no matter how many vessels you own.

For registering your beacons please click the link provided for the NOAA at https://beaconregistration.noaa.gov/RGDB/index  or call with questions to 888-212-7283.
