Public Workshop held for Brightline in Stuart

Stuart, Fl- A public workshop was held last night in Stuart to consider the addition of a Brightline station in the city.

Some 200 members of the public showed up to voice their opinion. About half expressed support for a station in Stuart.

Brightline has been an unpopular project on the Treasure Coast ever since it was announced.

Originally called All Aboard Florida, the plan is to send 32 high speed trains through our area each day, connecting Orlando to Miami, with stops in West Palm and Fort Lauderdale.

There was no initial plan for a stop on the Treasure Coast, but last month Brightline said they would consider adding a stop. They are seeking proposals from Stuart, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach, and Sebastian River.

Commissioners will vote next month on whether or not to move forward with a station proposal
