PSLPD: Train Crashes Into Truck that was Stuck on Railroad

Port St. Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- The Port St Lucie Police have reported that a train crashed into  a truck that was stuck on the railroad.

This is what they said:

On Saturday night at 9pm, the Port St. Lucie Police Department along with SLCFD and SLCSO responded to the train tracks located near the intersection of Walton Rd and Indian River Dr regarding a train that crashed into a truck.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 20-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were driving along the railroad when their pickup truck got stuck in the sand. The couple were attempting to dig out the truck when they saw a train traveling southbound. The man and woman were able to back away from their vehicle before the cargo train struck the rear of their truck, thankfully resulting in no injuries to them or the operator of the train. The collision occurred approximately 110 feet south of the train tracks and Walton Rd.

The train did not derail and the roadway was closed for approximately 6 hours until the train was able to continue on its way. Authorities from the Florida East Coast Railroad responded to the scene for further investigation.
