PSLPD SWAT Sniper Team Finishes 1st Place at Annual SniperWeek Challenge

 

This past week from May 4th to May 7th, Detective Maier, Detective Aubert, Sergeant Garcia, and Officer C. Durbin attended the annual 2022 SniperWeek in Clearwater, FL. The week began with presentations on operational reviews, equipment, team management, and case studies. Training concluded with a 2 day Snipercraft Team Challenge which involved a series of events that tested the team’s overall sniping skills, including judgement, teamwork, tactics, and shooting under induced stress

The Snipercraft Team Challenge consisted of a two-man sniper/observer team and PSLPD Snipers faced competition from 39 other teams throughout the United States. PSLPD is proud to announce that Detective Maier and Detective Aubert won 1st place for this year’s Snipercraft Team Challenge. Sergeant Garcia and Officer C. Durbin won 4th place. These accomplishments can be accredited to the Sniper Team’s more than 350 hours of annual training, dedication, hard work, and physical fitness.

Detective Maier has been on the PSLPD SWAT Sniper Team for 7 years and Detective Aubert has been on the SWAT Team for 8 years and was recently assigned to the Sniper Team only 4 months ago. Sergeant Garcia has been on the PSLPD SWAT Sniper Team for 8 years and was recently assigned as the Sniper Team Leader. Officer C. Durbin has been on the PLSPD SWAT Sniper Team for 18 years and previously served the last 7 years as the Sniper Team Leader. Congratulations to all! Please see link for video on Sniper Team
