PSLPD  investigating drowning of a 23 month old boy

Port St Lucie, Fl- On December 8, 2018 at around 8:05 am, Port St. Lucie Police went to the 4600 block of SW Albacore Street for reports of a drowning.

Police learned that the owners of the home were out of town and their son, his fiancé, and their 23 month old boy, was staying at the house to house sit. Also inside the house was the home owners’ 14 year old son and 23 year old daughter. They are the siblings of the father of the 23 month old boy.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the 23 month old boy was on the couch as the father was in another room of the home. The mother of the boy was not at home at the time and the father’s siblings (sister and half brother) were in separate rooms of the house. After approximately 30 minutes the father heard the dogs barking and he noticed the boy was no longer in the house. The father then noticed that the boy was floating face down in the back yard in ground swimming pool. It is believed that the boy got out of the house through a doggie door.

The father pulled the boy from the pool and began CPR as the father’s 23 year old sister called 9-1-1. The 23 year old girl then assisted and took over CPR as Port St. Lucie Police along with St. Lucie County Fire/Rescue arrived on scene. Fire/Rescue transported the 23 month old boy to a nearby hospital.

At this time the 23 month old boy is on life support. Port St. Lucie Police Detectives are currently investigating this drowning.
