PSLPD: 2 Suspects Confess to Recent Crime Spree Involving 15 Auto Burglaries

Investigators Find Stolen Gun in Local Canal!

 

Port St. Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com- The Port St. Lucie Police reported that 2 Suspects confessed to a recent crime spree Involving 15 auto burglaries.

This is what they said:

Yesterday evening, PSLPD Detectives charged a 15-year-old and 16-year-old suspect for 14 counts of burglary, 9 counts of larceny, 1 count of armed burglary, 1 count of grand theft of a firearm, and 1 count of illegal use of a credit card. The suspects were arrested and transported to the St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
The investigation revealed from May 7th to May 11th, PSLPD received 15 reports of auto burglaries in the eastern region of Port St. Lucie. The auto burglaries primarily occurred during the overnight hours and the suspects stole a .40 caliber handgun, wallets, credit cards, cash, sunglasses, and anything of value from inside the vehicles. Detectives have been thoroughly investigating the cases and followed up on information provided by one of the victims that their stolen credit card had been used by the suspects at a local McDonald’s.

Detectives retrieved the video surveillance and later identified two juvenile suspects. During follow up interviews with Detectives, the suspects confessed to being responsible for the 15 auto burglaries. Detectives learned the suspects discarded the stolen .40 caliber handgun in a local canal after firing two rounds into the water. This morning, Crime Scene Investigator Smith recovered the stolen firearm from a canal in the 500-BLK of SE Thanksgiving Ave after diligently searching the chest high water.
Detectives continue to investigate these cases at this time and are attempting to recover additional stolen property that was discarded by the suspects. Great job to CSI Smith and the Detectives for the relentless follow up and apprehension of the suspects.
