PSL: Truck crashed into canal. One found dead.

A truck has crashed in a canal this morning at around 7 am.

Port St Lucie police say a person was found dead Thursday morning after a vehicle crashed into a canal.

The canal is located at SE Green River Parkway and SE Melaleuca Blvd.

At 8:30 a.m., police said a dive team is in the water looking for more victims.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the truck was traveling north on SE Green River Parkway. For unknown reasons it veered off the road and went into a canal on the west side of the road.  A passerby saw the roof truck, which was submerged in the canal, and called police.  St. Lucie County Fire Rescue arrived on scene and pulled the body of a lifeless male from the truck.

Active investigation

This is an active investigation as St. Lucie County Underwater Search and Rescue dive team is on scene to search the area. Port St. Lucie Police traffic homicide officers are also on scene continuing the investigation.

The person was that of 46-year old Jason Self.  He was the only victim of the crash. The dive team searched the canal for more victims and found none.
